    (Updated kl August 2010)

The most talked about lot ahead of this momentous sale, Willsbro Emilyann, an Ensenada Taboo Planet daughter out of Wabash-Way Emilyann, a VG88 classified dam has just been knocked down for the day's leading price so far of 90,000gns. This one, the highest genomic index heifer in the sale today with an index of 2429 had been the subject of intense speculation before today and didn't disappoint, from a starting bid of 20,000gns the money quickly racked up past the 30,000gns mark and the 40,000gns level to hit 55,000gns in a matter of moments and then leapt on to 65,000gns mark and on past 70,000gns at slow at 80,000gns before a number of 1000gns bids pushed it to 86,000gns and then she went to 90,000gns with the crowd hushed as the hammer fell to loud applause. That is a new UK Holstein record with her selling to the Ponderosa herd, Spain.

    (FWI 14th April 2010)

Planet is still going from strength to strength and in high global demand. following the April proof his TPI score is currently 2121 and is currently 7th out of the Top 100 TPI International Bulls (Holstein Association USA APRIL 2010).

    (Updated kl April 2010)

    (updated AL Jan 10)

Planet added only 1 daughter to production and remained consistent. No daughters were added to the type proof and again the figures remained stable.

He is a high index outcross sire with phenomenal production and balanced type.

    (updated AL August 09)

    (updated AL April 09)

The Select Sires Program for Genetic Advancement(PGA) has developed another extremely high ranking sire Ensenada Taboo Planet. Since his debut last spring this sire has been able to rank with the giants of the breed. He currently is the number 2 TPI sire and also has a unique pedigree. Planet is a son of Rose Baum Taboo who combines Majic and Winken, while his dam is a daughter of Out-Jock Choice Amel. The next two dams include a Duster and then an Elton. This sire stack is fairly unique and doesn?t include many of the breed favorites but the cow family behind Planet is the real strength. Planet is a superior production sire with +2630 milk, +75 protein and +83 fat, solid type with a Ptat of +2.40 and strong for udders at +2.67 udder composite. In addition he is an improver in all health traits. Planet is being actively used as a sire of sons.

Plushanski Amel Patty was purchased as a bred heifer by David and Josh Bishop of Ensenada Holsteins, Doylestown, Pennsylvania. As soon as she started milking on her two year old record they knew they had a special cow. The Select Sire analyst Rick VerBeek fell in love with her strength and magnificent udder. He immediately placed two contracts on the young cow. One of those resulted into the breed leading Planet. Patty finished that first record with 38,133 pounds of milk, 1340 of fat and 1095 of protein. Patti has two more records of over 44,000 pounds of milk, 1400 of fat and 1200 protein. She has over 200,000 pounds of lifetime production. And she is still going strong at nine years of age. Patti has peaked at 186 pounds of milk in her current lactation and is headed for a 50,000 pound record. Patti also excels in type being just recently raised to Excellent 93-3E with an excellent mammary while milking over 180 pounds a day. Her Duster dam Dividing Ridge Peg VG-86 was no slouch at production either, with four records over 32,000 pounds of milk, 1200 fat and 900 protein. Peg?s offspring also allowed her to get the GMD and DOM awards from the Holstein Association. The third dam Dividing Ridge Elton Peggy has a top record over 33,000 milk, 1144 fat and 1065 protein. Peggy was classified EX- 91 2E with an excellent mammary and is also DOM.

Amel Patty has been an outstanding brood cow for Ensenada Holsteins. The first bull contract from Select Sires resulted in Ensenada Preston a son of Magna that is also in the active sales lineup for Select with +1.97 Ptat. Patty so far has seven sons with genetic evaluations and they average a phenomenal +1795 of milk. This family is truly a high milk genetic source. Patty currently has 15 daughters in the milking herd not counting several that have been merchandised to other breeders. Her best daughter to date is a full sister to Planet named Plum VG-88. She has a four year old record of 42,250 milk, 1540 fat and 1261 protein. Plum?s two year old Shottle daughter Plummy is generating a lot of interest lately. These offspring have allowed Patty to also achieve the DOM designation. Select thinks so highly of Patty that they have her currently under contract for another son.

Planet is a genetically superior sire that inherits those traits from a wonderful family that you will probably hear more of in the future. Interestingly it all started with the purchase of a bred heifer from a high production and type pedigree. Then excellent management and care did the rest. Curti Planet

Planet is the Number 1 bull worldwide for use as a sire of sons.

    (Holstein International Oct 08)

Planet has a incredible milk at 937kgs placing him in the top 10 for milk in the UK. Planet not only transmits exceptional milk production to his daughters but also offers an unusual outcross pedigree. Planets dam is the exceptional production cow, Plushanski Amel Patty EX92, who attracted the attention of US stud, Select Sires-above all for her exceptional udder, dairy strength and unique pedigree-and they have extensively used her as a bull mother. She is now almost nine years old and after an extensive flushing programme, has just calved her fourth and is producing a staggering 80kgs a day. Many of her descendants are already showing the same exceptional milk production tendencies. Planets sire is Rose-Baum Taboo-a bull which escaped the notice of the elite genetics industry but which sired sound, workable, medium sized daughters with good longevity. 'The desire with this mating was to produce a bull that could sire leading production and solid type from an outcross pedigree, and so far Planet is exceeding expectations' said a Select Sires analyst.

'His daughters exhibit the same qualities that we found in his dam and led us to work with her in the first place. They show great dairyness with the ability to produce lots of milk from great udders. Udders are high and wide with strong central support and closely placed front teats. Frames are moderate but thurls and pins are wide'
